Ivor Thomas (Amusements) proudly celebrates its 50th anniversary in December 2025. 

Founded in 1975 by Ivor Thomas Junior, the company is now led by Paul Thomas, his son, who continues the family’s long-standing tradition in the amusement industry.

But the Ivor Thomas name has been associated with amusements for much longer. Their connection to Ramsgate began in 1948, when Ivor Thomas Senior moved to the town and began operating his own bingo stall in an arcade on the Ramsgate seafront. By the early 1960s, he had secured arcade premises at the Granville Marina, where Ivor Junior took over operations in 1965.

In 1978, Ivor Thomas Amusements moved to Ramsgate High Street, expanding its offering to include fruit machines, pinball tables, and, later, iconic video games such as Space Invaders and Pac-Man, supplying pubs and clubs across East Kent.

Paul Thomas, who showed an early interest in the family business by helping with collections,joined the company in the mid-1980s, was made Director playing a keyrole in expanding operations beyond East Kent.

In 1992, Paul became Managing Director, with Ivor Junior stepping into the role of Chairman. The business continued to grow rapidly, supplying amusement machines not only to local venues but also to ferries and motorway service stations across the UK.

Today, Ivor Thomas (Amusements) Limited embraces the future with technical innovations such as credit apps that allow customers to top up fruit machine credits via mobile phones, and contactless pool tables, ensuring they stay at the forefront of the industry.

Behind their continued success stands a loyal and dedicated team. Their commitment has helped build a reputation for delivering outstanding customer service — a cornerstone of their business for five generations.
